With nearly half a century of experience in markets such as the petrochemical industry, G.R. Carr Ltd., a leading service and engineering company, has announced a strategic partnership with Danish robot technology company CLIIN Robotics.
A Landmark Partnership
The collaboration marks the first time a UK-based company has acquired a Tank Cleaning Robot (TCR), positioning G.R. Carr Ltd. at the forefront of safe and efficient tank cleaning.
The CLIIN Robotics TCR has magnetic tracks that allow the robot to navigate both internal and external tank surfaces upside down and handle angles up to 90° with ease. Eliminating the need for expensive and time-consuming scaffolding or man-lifts and drastically reducing the risk of accidents, particularly in hard-to-reach areas in tanks.
Significant Benefits: Efficiency, Cost Savings, and Enhanced Safety
Operating solely on high-pressure water, the robot is an environmentally friendly solution that avoids the use of harsh chemicals. It is highly effective against tough residues like algae, fuels, and oils, while also minimizing water consumption.
For external surfaces, the cleaning process effectively removes dirt, grime, and environmental contaminants while protecting the tank's paint, thereby reducing the need for costly repainting.
"This investment is a testament to our dedication to providing our clients with the most advanced, efficient and safest tank cleaning solutions available. Cleaning a tank that often could take weeks can now be done in days," said Operations Manager & Lifting SME, Alfie McCarthy, spokesperson for G.R. Carr Ltd.
"We are thrilled to partner with CLIIN Robotics and to be the first company in the UK to bring this transformative technology to the market within the tank cleaning segment. We are confident that this will deliver significant benefits to our clients in terms of efficiency, cost reductions and most importantly, safety for our team and crew.”
The partnership has been welcomed by both companies as a significant step forward.

A representative from CLIIN Robotics stated, "We are proud to partner with a company of G.R. Carr's calibre and reputation. Their commitment to invest in the future makes them the ideal partner to introduce our robotic tank cleaning solutions to the UK market. We look forward to a strong and successful cooperation." Said Regional Sales Manager, Christos Keleperas.
This new capability further enhances G.R. Carr's extensive portfolio of services, which includes pipework and steelwork fabrication, welding, testing, and coating and now cleaning with robots.
